Creating Connections Community Conference

The CACNA1A Foundation invites you to our 2024 Family and Scientific Conference. This hybrid conference will bring together patients and family members/caregivers, researchers, healthcare providers, scientists, advocates, and industry partners, providing opportunities for all attendees to foster new relationships and collaborations. We are still working on the agenda, but for those who know they want to attend, we invite you to register at our early bird pricing. Topics under consideration are:

• CACNA1A 101
• Clinical Trial Readiness Initiatives
• Clinical Care Guidelines
• The CACNA1A Research Pipeline - Lab Updates
• Gene Therapy - Understanding the Techniques and Process Behind Making This a Reality
• Distinguishing between CACNA1A-related Episodic Events (seizures, ataxia attacks, hemiplegic migraines)
• Dysautonomia (including temperature regulation, sleep disturbances, dizziness, nausea)
• Cortical Visual Impairment in CACNA1A
• Communication Supports for the Nonverbal Child
• Break-out groups on a variety of topics

Tentative Schedule:

July 18th - Research Roundtable (Closed Scientific Meeting) - This annual meeting brings together an outstanding community of researchers and clinicians to share unpublished work and participate in discussions regarding the pathways toward effective treatments, and provides opportunities for our Research Network to deepen collaborations and develop new ones.

FOR FAMILIES - Join us for a fun family activity in the Washington DC area (to be determined)

July 19th - Family Conference: Clinical Care, Research, and Genetics. Evening reception with the researchers and physicians.

July 20th - Family Conference: Family Support - The family sessions will feature information and resources to help patients and families navigate the challenges of CACNA1A-related diseases across a number of topics as well as provide opportunities to strengthen connections and support across the community. Evening Family dinner and dance party.
